Track City Orthotics Process

Every customer that arrives at Track City Orthotics receives the same high level of attention and is involved in the same complete evaluation and treatment process. We work hand-in-hand with your doctors and physical therapists and want you to know that Track City Orthotics is involved for the entire duration of your recovery, from injury to complete health. And remember, we make house calls and walk-ins and limp-ins are always welcome!

1) Evaluation Form—filling out an evaluation form allows us to pinpoint exactly what is ailing you, what your history with the injury is, and gather pertinent information about your lifestyle and physical health so that we may fully and accurately address and treat your pain.

2) Interview and Gait Analysis—this one-on-one meeting is one of the most important parts of our process. During this meeting we will discuss more completely all of the aspects of your injury—including the types of shoes you wear and the amount and type of physical activities you undertake—and perform a gait analysis. The gaitanalysis involves walking on a treadmill and performing a number of range of motion and biomechanical tests so that we may ascertain the full extent of your injuries—often pain in one part of your body is connected to problems in other areas of your body. Note: in order to help us to perform the best gait analysis possible, we ask you to please wear shorts or some other type of clothing that allows for the full viewing and manipulation of the knee area.

3) Explanation of Problems and Solutions—using the information gathered during the first two steps of our process, we will discuss with you the exact nature of your injuries and your options for treatment and recovery. This discussion will cover the range of orthotic products that we offer, the goal of each of these products, their plusses and minuses, and their life expectancy. Above all, we want to find the orthotic product that will best treat your specific problems.

4) Molding and Casting—after deciding on the correct orthotic for you we will custom create that product using molds and castings that we make from your feet during your visit to Track City. After completing your moldings and castings, your first visit to Track City Orthotics is complete. The entire evaluation visit should take around 40 minutes.

5) Custom Made—after the conclusion of your evaluation visit we will custom build your orthotic product using top-of-the-line materials, the latest pedorthy techniques, and employing all of the information gained from your evaluation. This process should take three to five days. We custom make all of our orthotics in-house and always strive for perfection.

6) Pick Up—upon completion of your custom-built orthotic you may return to Track City to pick up and try out your new product. During this visit we will fit your orthotic into your shoes and perform another brief gait analysis to make sure that the product is accurately treating your injury. This visit should take no longer that 15 minutes and afterwards you will be 95% done!

7) Adjustment Period—once you have inserted your new orthotic product into your footwear, you will enter into the adjustment period. Injuries are not fixed overnight, but we hope that recovery begins immediately and that comfort starts returning soon.

8) Follow Up—two weeks after you have begun using your orthotics we ask that you return to Track City for a brief follow up visit. This will allow us to make sure that all of our products are satisfactory and that they are helping to treat and solve your injuries. Sometimes injuries evolve and symptoms change, so it is possible that we will need to adjust your product so that it can continue to meet your needs. If at any time before your two-week follow up visit new problems arise, or your orthotic becomes unsatisfactory, call us and we will try to address the issues. Hopefully after this visit you will be on the road to a full recovery!
